Our Next Meeting. Our next club meeting is planned for September. More details will be provided in the next newsletter.

New Newsletter Format. Your Club News-letter has a new format starting with this issue. I'm neither very artistic nor imaginative, therefore I'm open to suggestions. So feel free to make them. The next newsletter will be distributed in August, so you should have ample time to phone me at 732-532-5790 (days), mail me at 304 Main Street, Matawan, NJ 07747 or email me at I'll do my best to include your comments, articles and, yes, even your digital photos, if you email them to me. Thanks, Wayne DeVilbiss

Dinner-Theater Planned. Bobbi Compton has made arrangements for a Dinner-Theater night-out in August. Dinner is at The Wild Scallion Restaurant. The play, titled: "Heaven Help Us", is at the First Ave, Playhouse.
Date: August 10th, Saturday
Time: Dinner at 6pm at the Wild Scallion
Price: $29 check payable to the Schussboomers Ski Club Also give $2 cash per person to Bobbi Compton at the restaurant for a tip for the dessert waitress/waiter
Please phone Bobbi at 732-741-8867 for the details.

Where 's the Money Go? If you missed our last meeting at Gibbs Hall, you missed an excellent treasurer's report given by John Hovendon. Obviously he didn't graduate from the "Arthur Anderson School of Accounting" because he is able to account for all the club's finances. I think that all present would agree that John has done a fine job as our club treasurer over the last several years. And he has agreed to do it again this year. Thanks John!

George Darragh Saves Us Money! That's right. George's near perfect attendance at the New Jersey Ski Council Meetings has resulted in the Council's reducing our club's dues from the normal $60 to only $10 dollars for the upcoming ski season. Yea for George! And thanks!

Club Picnic Planned for September. John Hovendon has agreed to plan our club picnic for the umpteenth season. The September day isn't set yet. John will probably appreciate some help. His phone number is 732-542-1838.

Membership Dues Are Due Now. Your membership dues give you priority over non-members for seats on the ski buses. And more importantly, yours dues help provide the $600 cash needed for reserving the ski bus at the beginning of the ski season. So mail your $10 check payable to Schussboomers Ski Club to PO Box 177, Eatontown, NJ 07724. The $10 is for an individual or family membership. It's a bargain for $10.

Western Trip. Bobbi and Len Compton have booked their Western Ski Week. Bobbi says that it will be the week of Feb 22 through Mar 1, 2003 at Whistler, BC. Accommodations are double occupancy, with private bath, and walk to lifts. A $300 deposit is due by Aug 1. Contact Bobbi at 732-741-8867 for more information

For Excitement Call Our Vice President! Ray Reynolds has some exciting plans for skiing. Perhaps Alaska in April-May or South America in Aug-Sept 03 with a heli-skiing extension! If you're interested or have any ideas to add, please contact Ray at 427-6772 (days) or email him at .

For More Excitement Call Our President! Yep, Dave Sanderson hopes to "do" Tuckerman Ravine next spring. The "do" means that there is more than just skiing involved in the "doing" of Tuckerman. Contact Dave at 732-222-4233 or .

Our January Ski Week in Canada. The Mont Blanc ski week is scheduled. More information will become available in the next newsletter.

Something to Consider. Do you want to continue to receive your newsletter via the US Postal Service, or would email be satisfactory? You will receive the newsletter a few days earlier by email and also save the club some mailing costs. Yes, you can have it both ways, but let us know your wishes at .

Mandatory Helmets for Kids? George Darragh has been following the mandatory helmet legislation and the NJ Ski Council's position on that legislation. Please read the enclosures and let your reps. know how you feel about the matter.
